Celebrating Community, Schools, and Another Big Win

September was another meaningful month for Mattenga’s Pizzeria. From celebrating a major community-voted award to supporting schools, student programs, local organizations, and community events, we were reminded once again that pizza is about more than what we serve. It is about the people we serve and the communities we are fortunate to be part of.

We Won Again: SA Picks Best Pizza 2026

We are honored to share that Mattenga’s Pizzeria has officially been named KSAT’s SA Picks Best Pizza 2026, marking our second consecutive year receiving this recognition.

This award means so much because it comes from the people who support us every day: our customers and our community.

To everyone who voted for Mattenga’s, visited our stores, shared our posts, recommended us to friends, and continued to make us part of your celebrations and everyday meals, thank you. We truly would not be celebrating this achievement without you.

We also want to recognize our incredible Mattenganites. Their hard work, dedication, and heart are a huge part of what makes Mattenga’s special. This recognition belongs to them as well.

We are grateful for everyone who has been part of our journey and for the continued opportunity to serve our community.

Supporting Students and Local Schools

Supporting local schools continues to be an important part of our commitment to the communities we serve. Throughout September, we were grateful for numerous opportunities to provide pizza donations and sponsored lunches for students, teachers, staff, parents, volunteers, and school organizations.

We donated pizza for the Long Creek High School All Sports Booster Club’s “Release the Dragons” event, helping support a gathering dedicated to Long Creek students and athletics. We are thankful to the Booster Club, families, coaches, and volunteers for everything they do for the school community.

At Murnin Elementary School, we provided pizza in support of the school’s Watch D.O.G.S. Program. We appreciate the parents, volunteers, and staff who dedicate their time to creating a stronger school community.

We were also happy to support Wilder Intermediate PTC with a pizza donation for a classroom event. We appreciate the work they do to create meaningful experiences for their students.

At Bobbye Behlau Elementary, we sponsored pizza to support the students, teachers, and staff who make their school community special.

We were also grateful to NISD for inviting Mattenga’s to speak at the Partnerships Coordinator Training. Along with sharing with the coordinators, we donated pizza for their training. We appreciate the work they do to strengthen connections between NISD schools and the community.

Our September school support also included sponsored lunches and donations for:

  • Legacy of Educational Excellence High School

  • Southern Careers Institute

  • Hobby Health Science Magnet Middle School

  • Pieper High School

  • Wilderness Oak Elementary School

  • Canyon Middle School

  • Beard Elementary School

  • Taft High School

  • Pease Middle School

  • SST San Antonio College Prep High School

  • Tom C. Clark High School

  • International School of San Antonio

Each opportunity was a small way for us to show our appreciation for the educators, students, families, and organizations working to make our local communities stronger.

Supporting Organizations That Strengthen Our Community

Our commitment to the community extends beyond schools. We were grateful to support UT Health San Antonio’s Dental Investment and Business Society (DIBS), KW Heritage and She is Society with a pizza donation. We’ve also had the opportunity to sponsor lunches for the Office of the Constable, Club Studio, and the Nellie Reddix Center, supporting the people and organizations that make a difference in our community.

We appreciate the opportunity to be part of their gathering and to contribute in a small way to the work they are doing.

We also celebrated the first anniversary of AR Club Fitness. We were thankful to be featured and promoted through their support of Mattenga’s Protein Crust Pizza. Congratulations to AR Club Fitness on this milestone, and we wish them continued success in the years ahead.

Celebrating Students and Academic Achievement

Pizza is always a welcome addition to a celebration, and we were especially happy to support programs that recognize student achievement.

At Pease Middle School, we provided a pizza donation in support of their Academic Improvement Program. We are proud to be part of moments that recognize students for their hard work and encourage them to continue reaching their goals.

These opportunities remind us that supporting education is not only about the classroom. It is also about celebrating the students, educators, families, and volunteers who make those educational communities possible.

A Month of Giving Back

September brought many opportunities to show what it means to be part of a community.

Whether we were donating pizza for a school event, sponsoring lunch for educators and staff, supporting student programs, participating in community gatherings, or celebrating alongside a local business, each contribution gave us another opportunity to connect with the people around us.

At Mattenga’s, we believe that being a part of the community means showing up whenever we can. Sometimes that looks like a pizza donation. Sometimes it means sponsoring lunch. And sometimes it means simply celebrating an important milestone alongside our neighbors.

Every opportunity matters.

Growing Stronger Together in September

Great guest experiences begin with a strong team working together behind the scenes. Throughout September, our leadership group focused on collaboration, continuous improvement, and strategic planning to strengthen our team and build a stronger foundation for continued growth and success.

Thank You for Letting Us Be Part of Your Community

We are incredibly grateful to the schools, organizations, families, educators, volunteers, students, and community partners who welcomed Mattenga’s into their events throughout September.

Your work makes a difference every day, and we are thankful for every opportunity to support it.

September was a month filled with reasons to celebrate, but our biggest celebration continues to be the relationships we build with the communities we serve.

Thank you for continuing to make Mattenga’s part of your community.
