Celebrating Community, Teamwork, and Another Best Pizza Win!
We’re thrilled to announce that Mattenga’s Pizzeria has earned its third Best Pizza award of 2025, this time from KSAT SA Picks! This recognition belongs to our hardworking team and to you—our community—for your loyalty, votes, and constant support. We’re deeply grateful, and this award only fuels our passion to continue being San Antonio’s neighborhood pizzeria.
Comedy and Community
Nothing goes better with laughter than pizza! We were grateful to sponsor Pizza & Comedy Night at Upstage Comedy Lounge, where guests enjoyed an evening filled with laughs, great food, and community connection.
We also want to thank Mirror of Truth Homeschool Speech & Debate for sharing photos from their recent gathering. The group was all smiles thanks to the pizzas prepared with care by our Wilderness Oak team—we loved being part of your special day!
Supporting Schools and Students
Our Wilderness Oak location delivered 67 pizzas to Pieper High School, fueling their band as they headed into competition.

This month, we also donated vouchers to support UTSA Film & Media and the Southwest Elementary PTA. In addition, spirit nights across our different locations brought families and neighbors together in support of local schools, churches, and sports teams, including Judge Andy Mireles Elementary, Green Valley Elementary, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School-Selma, Hawks Baseball, New Braunfels High School Project Graduation, Community Bible Church (CBC), and the Tar Stars Limited organization.
Honoring Volunteers
It was our privilege to treat the amazing volunteers of Hope Hospice Thrift Shop to lunch this month. Their dedication and compassion for the community inspire us, and we were honored to show our appreciation.
Growing Together as a Team
Beyond serving pizza, we believe in investing in our people. This September, 10 of our team members attended the Vault Conference in Orlando, Florida, focusing on leadership and growth. Back home, we continue to strengthen our teams with weekly engineered meetings, WAR sessions, and duplications training—all designed to build stronger leaders and better serve our community.
September reminded us once again why we do what we do: to serve great pizza, bring people together, and make a difference in our community. Thank you for continuing to make Mattenga’s your neighborhood pizzeria. We’re looking forward to many more shared moments in the months ahead!
