A Month of Pizza, Purpose, and Community

October was truly one for the books at Mattenga’s Pizzeria! From pink pizza boxes and community celebrations to over 500 pizzas donated across schools, groups, teams, and local organizations — we’re ending the month with full hearts (and full bellies). Here’s a look at how we shared the love, one slice at a time.

Pink Boxes, Big Hearts

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and this year, we showed our support with special edition pink pizza boxes — each one a symbol of hope, courage, and community.We were honored to serve and support local organizations including the Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation’s Pink Wellness Day, and to stand beside Maria Elia as she celebrated her treatment journey.

Every pink box delivered this month carried more than just pizza — it carried a message of love and strength to those fighting and surviving breast cancer. Through every slice, we’re spreading awareness and celebrating the heroes who inspire us all.

Pizza for a Year: We Have a Winner!

We kicked off National Pizza Month with one of our biggest celebrations yet — the Pizza for a Year Giveaway! Nearly 800 pizza fans joined the fun, but luck was on the side of Van Teodosio, our one and only champ. Congratulations, Van! Enjoy a year’s worth of delicious Mattenga’s pizza — you’ve earned it!

Our giveaway even caught the attention of SA Live, who featured Mattenga’s as their SA Picks Winner during their visit to highlight National Pizza Month and our community efforts for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Pizza Fest Wins and Kid-Approved Slices

October ended on a high note at San Antonio Pizza Fest 2025, where Mattenga’s proudly took home both Judge’s Choice and Kid’s Choice awards! Huge thanks to our amazing team for their hard work and to our community for every vote and every visit.

Serving the Community We Love

We’re proud to have shared more than 500 pizzas this month, fueling teachers, athletes, students, and everyday heroes across San Antonio and New Braunfels. Some of our favorite moments included:

Canyon High School Band – 160 pizzas and 35 pastas to power up their hard work and spirit.

Davenport High School – Pizza donations for Coach’s Appreciation Day, Pink Out, and Senior Parent Night.

UTSA Film/Media – We’re proud to show our support with a pizza donation for their amazing crew.

Alamo City All-Stars ABA Basketball Team – Mattenga’s is honored to be the Official After-Game Pizza Sponsor of these incredible athletes.

Comal County Senior Citizens Foundation – A special meal for the seniors who’ve paved the way for us all.

Kyle’s Law Firm – Lunch for their incredible team as a thank-you for their service.

Antonian Silver Dancers – Free pizzas to fuel their fundraiser and support local talent.

Ronald Reagan High School, Clear Springs Elementary, Fox Run Elementary, Mead Elementary, SST Hill Country, LCHS Theatre Arts, Shirley Howsman Elementary, Brighter Futures, School of Science and Technology, Scobee Elementary, Knowlton Elementary, and more – Because we believe that they teach, and we feed.

San Antonio Military Health System, Hope Hospice, River City Advocacy, and the New Braunfels Food Bank – Sponsored lunches to lift spirits and serve with gratitude.

Spirit Nights and School Partnerships

We loved hosting Spirit Nights with St. Monica’s Catholic School, Steele Cheer Booster Club, North East Educational Foundation, and KultureCity. Each event reminded us how special it is when families, schools, and neighbors come together over great pizza.

A special thanks to Northside ISD for inviting our very own Reagan Kyotlo, Multi-Unit Manager and Community Affairs Coordinator, to speak at your Partnerships Representatives Training. We’re honored to collaborate with your incredible educators to make a difference one partnership (and one slice) at a time.

A Spooky, Successful Halloween

We wrapped up October with one of our busiest nights of the year — Halloween! Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us, and to our incredible Mattenga’s team who kept the pizza flowing all night long. You made the day truly special.
