At Mattenga's, we're passionate about more than just serving great pizza—we're passionate about serving our community.

Throughout May 2026, we were honored to support schools, students, educators, first responders, nonprofit organizations, and local events across San Antonio and neighboring communities. Through donations, sponsorships, and community partnerships, we had the opportunity to contribute to causes and celebrations that bring people together.

We're grateful for every organization that welcomed us to be part of their efforts. Here's a look at the community impact we were proud to make this month.

Supporting Educators During Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week gave us the opportunity to recognize the incredible educators who dedicate themselves to shaping future generations. We were honored to provide pizza donations to schools across our communities, including:

Teachers play a vital role in the success of students and communities alike. Their patience, dedication, and commitment inspire us, and we were grateful for the opportunity to show our appreciation in a small way.

Investing in Student Success

We were proud to support Communities In Schools of South Central Texas, an organization making a meaningful difference in the lives of students throughout the region.

Their work connecting students with mentors, resources, and opportunities creates lasting impact, and we were honored to contribute to their mission of helping students achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.

Celebrating Student Achievement

Hard work deserves recognition, and we were thrilled to celebrate the Danville Middle School Boys 8th Grade Basketball Team on their District Championship.

Through a pizza donation, we had the opportunity to help commemorate an achievement earned through dedication, teamwork, and perseverance. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and families who made this accomplishment possible.

We were also proud to support the 11U White McAllister Park Little League All-Star Team with a pizza donation as they represented their community on the field. Supporting youth athletics remains an important part of our commitment to local families and future leaders.

Supporting School and Community Events

Community events bring people together, and we were excited to support Langley Elementary School PTA's Fine Arts Night.

The event celebrated student creativity while providing an opportunity for families, teachers, and community members to connect and enjoy an evening together. We were proud to contribute with a pizza donation and help make the event a memorable one.

We also had the privilege of supporting several other local schools and organizations through pizza donations, including Davenport High School's celebration for graduating senior office aides, McAndrew Elementary PTA's fifth-grade promotion, and Robert Vale Middle School's end-of-year PTA student celebration.

Thank you to these schools and organizations for all they do to support students and strengthen our community.

Honoring Those Who Serve

During National Police Week, Mattenga's was honored to provide a pizza donation to the UT San Antonio Police Department.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the officers and staff who work tirelessly to help keep our communities safe. Supporting those who serve others remains an important part of our commitment to giving back.

We were also pleased to provide pizzas for the staff of University Hospital in San Antonio during their staff recognition celebration. It was a privilege to show our appreciation for the healthcare professionals who make a difference in the lives of so many every day.

Community Events and Local Connections

One of the highlights of the month was participating in the Great Texas Airshow. It was an incredible opportunity to serve families and visitors while celebrating a day filled with community spirit, patriotism, and unforgettable aerial performances.

We were grateful for everyone who stopped by and supported Mattenga's during the event.

We also had the exciting opportunity to welcome Dave Elder from Texas Eats to our Schertz location. His visit and continued support of independent restaurants across San Antonio mean a great deal to local business owners like us. We are thankful to Texas Eats for highlighting the restaurants and entrepreneurs that help make our region unique.

Growing to Serve More Communities

May also brought exciting news for our company as we prepared for the opening of our newest location in New Braunfels Marketplace.

Located next to Cosecha and Santikos, our newest restaurant will allow us to serve even more families, schools, organizations, and community events throughout the area. We look forward to officially opening our doors and becoming part of the New Braunfels community.

Great guest experiences start behind the scenes. This May, our leaders focused on collaboration, operational excellence, and strategic planning to ensure every team member is moving toward the same goal.
